The work of a project like Bor Land is of unquestionable value for the Portuguese music scene. For embodying the most coherent editorial universe, guaranteeing the release of some of the most consensual and celebrated names of the national vanguard. We can identify an erudition in the aesthetic paths followed by the artists of the label, a superior way of dealing with what is referred to as popular music, bringing it to find charismatic spaces, places of a unique character, in which the signature of the work shines in what it bears of exotic, original and intelligently exquisite. Bor Land is not sheltering silly manifests, which intend more often than not to sustain egos; it is clearly instead a home for new artists that boast an enviable maturity, where, if one’s to believe the specialised media, we can find a good share of our most trustworthy contemporary artists, slowly paving the way for a consecration and appraisal that will undoubtedly come, sooner or later. The musicians are probably the ones who will recognize this delivery the most, a genuine availability typical of those that run after a dream more than after a mere way to make a living. The introduction in Bor Land’s roster of some established musicians is a clear sign of what we mean. We’re not facing a set of musicians who act as a succedaneum of others, they don’t aim to resemble or substitute anything. They bring with them their own format, one that, as with all things that tend towards the ideal of difference, consummates the surprise that is often reflected in the lazy estrangement of the mass audience. Facing the unknown, the big public eyes it suspiciously, instead of marvelling at it, as some fantastic tales or dreamy moving pictures would have us believe.

Bor Land loves the music it releases. We are keen on listening to new music, but we only sign bands that we’re fond of when the time, attention and devotion necessary to produce and release a record are right. We only accept demos on CD/CDR formats. Please do not send us e-mails with audio files. Also, don’t try to confirm if we received or listened to your demo, we will contact you when we do.
